Horry Group Works To Repeal New State Education Standards

The group, a chapter of S.C. Parents Involved in Education, believes the new standards will not provide the right education for the state’s students, said group leader Camille Noonan. The new math standards don’t teach the basics, classic literature will be dropped in favor of nonfiction texts, and the education of area students will be determined at the national level, she said.
