Obama Again Commits Soldiers In No-Win Situation – This Time, South Sudan

According to a report from Paul McLeary in DefenseNews.com, without much fanfare – or explanation to the American people — President Obama has again committed US forces by using his War Powers Resolution authority.

In the letter to the Speaker of the House and the President Pro tempore of the Senate on December 19, President Obama said that the soldiers, deployed on December 18, are equipped for combat, but that this force was deployed for the purpose of protecting U.S. citizens and property. This force will remain in South Sudan until the security situation becomes such that it is no longer needed.

The soldiers deployed are part of the US Army's East Africa Response Force to the capital of Juba to help evacuate American citizens and ensure the safety of embassy personnel there. The forty-five combat-ready soldiers are part of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division based in Ft Riley, Kansas, but who are on a year-long deployment in the Army’s Regionally Aligned Forces program, which marries brigade combat teams with combatant commands around the world to thicken their ranks.

Pro-Choice Nursing Student Changes Her Mind After Witnessing An Abortion

A pro-choice student nurse began having doubts about her position after witnessing an abortion. Author Jeff Lane Hensley quotes her in his book “The Zero People.” This book contains pro-life essays on abortion from various writers.

“I was for abortion, I thought it was a woman’s right to terminate pregnancy she did not want. Now I’m not so sure. I am a student nurse nearing the end of my OB-GYN rotation at a major metropolitan hospital and teaching center. It wasn’t until I saw what abortion really involves that I changed my mind. After the first week in the abortion clinic several people in my clinical group were shaky about their previously positive feelings about abortion. This new attitude resulted from our actually seeing a Prostaglandin abortion, one similar in nature to the widely used saline abortion. This method is being used for terminations of pregnancies of sixteen weeks and over.

A prostaglandin abortion was done by inducing labor before viability. The contractions that a woman would go through through were very strong. They were painful for the mother. Babies who were aborted with this method were often delivered with bruises over their entire bodies.

Judge Rules Students Can Keep Guns On College Campuses

In the year following the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, all over America, many local and state governments have attempted to restrict the individual’s right to protect themselves by banning the ownership, possession, and carrying of firearms for self defense. Thankfully, every time this nonsense has been brought to a vote, Second Amendment advocates have stepped in.

The latest victory for gun-rights advocates and Second Amendment supporters comes out of Florida. Twenty-four year old college student and mother, Alexandria Lainez, was threatened with expulsion from the University of North Florida (UNF) for keeping a firearm safely stored in her car while attending class. Lainez, has held a concealed weapons permit for three years, and is a law-abiding citizen and model student. She is merely a mother who takes her responsibility to protect herself and her child seriously.

Lainez carried her gun in her car to so that she would have access to it for self-defense purposes while traveling to and from the UNF campus. Making that commute means storing her gun in her car on UNF property while she attends class. The University of North Florida prohibits weapons on campus and threatens arrest for any violators, according to the 2011 Student Handbook. This past week, in a case brought by Lainez, the 1st District Court of Appeal ruled that no college or university has the authority to make such a regulation.

The Broader Issue
Perhaps one of the biggest victories out of this case is that it calls into question the powers of local governments and bodies, such as counties, cities, and even universities and libraries to restrict gun rights. Many of these bodies violate gun owner’s rights through small control ordinances that put gun owners at risk of arrest when traveling from one area to another, or while moving from place to place.

It all comes down to this, the Second Amendment: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Anything that stands in the way of that right is blatantly unconstitutional.

Let’s Be Honest: Christmas’ ‘Problem’ Is Not The Offense Of The Manger

To my unbelieving friends at Christmas:

My wish is that you would consider the source of your antagonism toward observant Christians. Unless you’re a major shareholder in Radio Shack or Barnes & Noble, why should you care if we prefer to shop with other companies that aren’t so Christo-phobic? OK, so we’re hung up about “Merry Christmas” over “Happy Holidays”. Then just write us off as people who can’t take a joke.

If you really think Christianity is just a bunch of stuff and nonsense, then why should any of this matter to you at all? Because that’s not really what it’s all about.

As Jeff “You Know You’re a Redneck When” Foxworthy declared a few years ago when hosting the County Music awards, “We sing about God because we believe in Him. We are not trying to offend anybody, but the evidence that we have seen of Him in our small little lives trumps your opinion about whether or not He exists.”

Right. The operative word is “trying.” We’re not trying to offend you. But we do. We really can’t help it. And let me suggest a reason why: It’s not the babe in the manger or the shepherds or the wise men or even the nativity scenes on public property that cause you to be so offended. It’s what they all lead up to and portend.

It’s the offense of the Cross. Jesus, son of God, was born to die for sinners. Talk about politically incorrect. You know instinctively that honoring Jesus is to dishonor sinners. Think about it: Nobody naturally wants to believe that their sin is so bad as to require an atoning sacrifice so extreme as that paid by Jesus in such excruciating fashion. It’s like the horror of hell. And that’s the red flag that the babe in the Christmas manger waves in your face, is it not?

Marching To The Beat Of Condemnation

Humanity seeks to replace Christ for the pursuit of an unconventional uncharted path in order to fulfill life’s void and establish secret bliss that is apparently, yet to be discovered. Off-the-wall culture attributes spirituality to forces in the universe by sending out positive energy which will not return void.

The one true God is no longer good enough because within his framework we discover limits, boundaries and expectations. The modern day approach is that if it feels good we should have the right to divulge as we see fit. “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil,” John 3:19.

Society’s favorite comeback is ‘don’t judge me’ in order to dodge accountability while others respond by testifying ‘only God can judge me’ without having a clue about God’s judgment as outlined in scripture. We are to call one another to accountability, and sharpen one another through fellowship, “so watch yourselves! If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance – forgive,” Luke 17:3.

Granted, God’s mercy and forgiveness expands far beyond our comprehension. He is a God of clemency, but people purposefully forget and even deny that He is also a God of wrath and judgment. His anger is righteous anger – scripture embodies condemnation for those who do not repent and turn away from their sinful habits. Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God (Romans 12:2; Matthew 3:8). Those who believe and repent become heirs in the kingdom of God (Romans 8:17).

Apple A Day As Affective As Statins

Eating an apple-a-day is an effective as statins at preventing deaths from strokes and heart attacks, Oxford University scientists has discovered.

The original 1866 proverb states: Eat an apple on going to bed, and you'll keep the doctor from earning his bread.

But a study from Oxford University has shown than an apple-a-day really will keep the doctor away and is as affective as statins at preventing strokes and heart attacks.

Researchers have concluded that around 8,500 deaths could be prevented every year if over-50s who are not already taking statins ate one apple each day.

Previous studies have shown that apples are high in soluble fibre which slows the build-up of cholesterol-rich plaque in the arteries.

Apples also contain antioxodiants and flavanoids which are beneficial to health and boost the immune system.

Dr Adam Briggs of the BHF Health Promotion Research Group at Oxford University said: "The Victorians had it spot on when they came up with the clear and simple public health advice, 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away'.

"It just shows how effective little changes in diet can be.

Passive Smoking – Another Of The Nanny State's Big Lies

Passive smoking doesn't give you lung cancer. So says a new report publicised by the American Cancer Institute which will come as no surprise whatsoever to anyone with a shred of integrity who has looked into the origins of the great "environmental tobacco smoke" meme.

It was, after all, a decade ago that the British Medical Journal, published the results of a massive, long-term survey into the effects of second-hand tobacco smoke. Between 1959 and 1989 two American researchers named James Enstrom and Geoffrey Kabat surveyed no few than 118,094 Californians. Fierce anti-smoking campaigners themselves, they began the research because they wanted to prove once and for all what a pernicious, socially damaging habit smoking was. Their research was initiated by the American Cancer Society and supported by the anti-smoking Tobacco Related Disease Research Program.

At least it was at first. But then something rather embarrassing happened. Much to their surprise, Kabat and Enstrom discovered that exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ie passive smoking), no matter how intense or prolonged, creates no significantly increased risk of heart disease or lung cancer.

Similar conclusions were reached by the World Health Organisation which concluded in 1998 after a seven-year study that the correlation between "passive smoking" and lung cancer was not "statistically significant." A 2002 report by the Greater London Assembly agreed. So too did an investigation by the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee.

Chumley Says He Will Fight Ethics Allegations

S.C. Rep. Bill Chumley will finally get his day in court before the House Ethics Committee – two days before Christmas.

While the 10-member committee was meeting behind closed doors for several hours Tuesday afternoon on an unrelated ethics case, Chumley's attorney said he was notified by his law firm staff that the committee had scheduled a hearing for the Spartanburg County Republican on Monday at 9:30 a.m.

“We wanted to handle it today, but that did not work for Rep. Chumley,” Rep.  Kenny Bingham, R-Lexington and the committee chairman, told The Nerve in a written response after Tuesday’s meeting. “Next Monday works for Rep. Chumley and I can get a quorum to conduct the hearing because the attorneys don’t have court.”

“We’re anxious to get the matter concluded, and we’ve been anxious since June,” Chumley’s attorney, Reese Boyd, told The Nerve Tuesday afternoon.

As of last week, Chumley’s case was on the agenda for Tuesday’s committee meeting at the Blatt Building on the State House grounds, but it was removed from the agenda Monday after Bingham said Chumley had requested a hearing, which typically involves witness testimony.

Bingham told The Nerve in a written response Monday night that the Ethics Committee can “take action without conducting a hearing,” noting, “Generally speaking, hearings are only conducted when there are facts that are in dispute.”

“Based on my discussion … with counsel for the committee, we requested a hearing on a timely basis,” Boyd said Tuesday, though he declined further comment.

Waste Beyond Belief

Do you remember spending almost a million dollars in the last few years on a website devoted to romance novels? How about that $17.5 million you spent on brothels in Nevada? Or the $200,000 treating record industry executives to a world tour?

No? Well, technically you didn’t spend all that money. Your government did. But it was your money the government spent.

Romance novels and record tours are just a few among dozens of outrageous expenditures Senator Tom Coburn has cataloged in his 2013 “Wastebook,” the latest of his annual reports to remind us just how out-of-control the federal government has become.

The entire report is worth reading, if only for the experience of discovering example after example of scandalous use of taxpayer dollars, each more absurd than the last, none of which you’ve ever heard of.

For instance, the State Department recently spent $5 million on custom crystal wine glasses for its embassies. USAID spent $300,000 on 600 gallons of diesel in Afghanistan--$500 per gallon, or a hundred times the going rate.

Amtrak lost $60 million last year alone providing food service on its long distance routes (some of which include complimentary wine and cheese, and offer gourmet meals subsidized by taxpayers).

Frederick Douglass A Biography Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass was one of the foremost leaders of the abolitionist movement, which fought to end slavery within the United States in the decades prior to the Civil War. A brilliant speaker, Douglass was asked by the American Anti-Slavery Society to engage in a tour of lectures, and so became recognized as one of America’s first great black speakers. He won world fame when his autobiography was publicized in 1845. Two years later he began publishing an antislavery paper called the North Star.

Douglass served as an adviser to President Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and fought for the adoption of constitutional amendments that guaranteed voting rights and other civil liberties for blacks. Douglass provided a powerful voice for human rights during this period of American history and is still revered today for his contributions against racial injustice.

Margaret Sanger: “We Want To Exterminate The Negro Population.” Her Wish Is Coming True

If you listen very carefully to the coffin of Margaret Sanger you would hear absolutely nothing.

Assuredly, she’s not rolling over in her grave that black and Hispanic babies are far more likely to be aborted than white babies. She might be dancing, however.

Sanger once said, “Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race” and even said, “We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

Now, you can read all sorts of defenses of those quotes like they’re taken out of context or hey, it was the 1920′s people said all sorts of stupid things way back in the day. But it’d be a little easier to ignore if the group she founded didn’t seem so intent on killing black and Hispanic children. According to a recent study from The Center for Disease Control 82 Percent of Abortions in New York City and 64% in Texas Were on Black or Hispanic Babies. Hey Margaret, mission accomplished.

Winter Is Coming – Grasshoppers Fiddle While…

Winter is coming. The phrase was made popular with the success of the Game of Thrones series, but its resonance is elemental. Even in the height of summer, when a couple inches of snow sound like a refreshing break from the heat, contemplating the approach of winter triggers the impulse to prepare; to stock up. As any Midwesterner can attest, the thought of being caught, unprepared and lacking, in the dead of winter is enough to turn just about anyone into a prepper.

Just like the ants in the popular fable, it’s understood that work done in the spring, summer, and fall is to provide for the time when winter impedes the acquisition of resources necessary for life. As is often the case, this lesson, beautifully portrayed in a tale told to children, contains a truth which is vital to their development and functional participation in society. The ants work while the weather is nice; the grasshopper enjoys the nice weather while mocking the ants. The ants warn the grasshopper that he needs to prepare for bleaker times ahead; the grasshopper laughs and continues the party. Winter comes; grasshopper dies. Sorry Walt Disney, in the original version, the ants didn’t extend a grasshopper entitlement program to the shiftless-ne’er-do-well. They kept the door locked and turned up the Jimmy Buffet, content to bask in the fruits of their hard work and self-discipline.

The connection between the characters in the fable and the general character of our nation is unmistakable. As the Left’s punitive war on achievement continues apace, the number of ants in America continues to shrink. Much like the producers in Atlas Shrugged, the achievers in America have grown weary serving in their dual-role of culprit and scapegoat. We are told that the successful among us are to blame for the problems we have, and at the same time, they be coerced to involuntarily serve as the salvation from these problems through their sacrifice. So like John Galt, they are disappearing; but instead of retreating to form an objectivist paradise, as Rand’s characters did, many of our ants are joining the ranks of the grasshoppers.

Business after business is realizing that the most important number in the CEO’s rolodex is their corporate lobbyist in Washington. Our bureaucratic regulators have engendered such a culture of corporate cronyism that businesses are forced to fall into line if they want a good spot at the taxpayer trough. So it follows that many of our newest grasshoppers are not lazy bums, but productive bums who are willing to play ball with Uncle Sam in order to avoid onerous regulation and financial deprivation. If Aesop were writing his tales today, no doubt he would include the unionization of the grasshoppers, leading to a very productive “protection racket” offered to the ants by the Grasshopper Fiddlers Local #1.

The ants’ warning about the arrival of winter does not carry the same weight that it once did, when our civilization was more dependent on the agrarian economy. Thanks to globalization, we can still get fresh produce and grain throughout the dead of winter. But the deeper meaning behind the ants’ warning is timeless. Winter is coming for Western Civilization and the work we do (or don’t do) today will be our provision in the days and years ahead. Our Grasshopper Government has done their best to make sure that we will be economically damned if we do and damned if we don’t. The fiscal realities facing most states and counties, to say nothing of the federal debt tsunami which hangs over us all, virtually guarantee that mere belt-tightening is not going to be enough. At some point over the next decade or so, our debt bubble will collapse and winter will truly arrive.

Gun Control; Ranted Against ‘Republicans’ Who Blocked Stricter Gun Laws

Colorado gunman Karl Pierson, who seriously injured a 17-year-old girl when he opened fire at his school, supported tougher gun laws.

The 18-year-old, who had been dropped from the debate team, was said to have had strong views on politics and gun control, classmates said.

Pierson was also allegedly suspended from the school in September for making threats against the team coach, Tracy Murphy, believed to have been the target for Friday's attack.

'He had very strong beliefs about gun laws and stuff,' junior Abbey Skoda told the Denver Post.

The paper reported that Pierson had once posted an image on Facebook with the slogan: 'The Republican Party: Health Care: Let 'em Die, Climate Change: Let 'em Die, Gun Violence: Let 'em Die, Women's Rights: Let 'em Die, More War: Let 'em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?'

The post had been removed on Saturday.

Despite seemingly supporting gun control, Pierson legally bought the shotgun that he used only one week before carrying out his attack.

The teenager carried out his attack while his mother, who he had been living with since his parents divorced, was out of town caring for a sick relative.

During the attack he fired five times, shooting 17-year-old Claire Davis at point blank range, before shooting himself in the library.

Another Day, Another Jihad Plot In America

Something scary happened on Friday the 13th, but you’d hardly have noticed from the news reports.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force in Wichita, Kansas, arrested a 58-year old airport employee in a plot to carry out a suicide bombing at the city’s Mid-Continent Airport.

The man, Terry Lee Loewen, was a white convert to Islam who authorities say became “radicalized” over the Internet.

Loewen planned to drive a vehicle laden with explosives onto the airport and explode it—and himself—at the terminal where hundreds of unsuspecting travelers went about their normal business.

Luckily, the FBI had intercepted Loewen and his vehicle contained only dummy explosives planted by an FBI agent that Loewen believed to be a collaborator.

This plot received a great deal of exposure on the Drudge Report, but none of the major news agencies thought it worthy of an email news bulletin—except for Fox News.

A plot like this would have stopped the presses just 15 years ago. Today, it’s just another news story on a busy news day. In another week or so, very few people outside of Kansas will even remember Terry Lee Loewen’s name, or that he was arrested for attempting to carry out mass murder in the name of Jihad. America is becoming desensitized to jihadi terrorism and that is unfortunate. Islamic Jihad is becoming a customary part of our everyday lives.

What is frightening about the homegrown terrorism that we’ve been seeing the last few years is that those terrorists—or would be suicide bombers—seem to be normal Americans.

Loewen lived in a quiet, middle class, suburban neighborhood in a modest, one-story ranch-style home. In the local newspaper The Wichita Eagle, his neighbors described him as “normal:”

Obama And Mandela: A Lot More Than Little White Lies

If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America.” — Nelson Mandela, Jan. 29, 2003

Nelson Mandela, the former terrorist-turned-compromiser and the so-called “father of democracy” who served as president of South Africa, hated America. But progressive liberals loved him — none more so than President Barack Obama, who ordered that flags at the White House and all Federal buildings fly at half-staff through Monday, following Mandela’s death last Thursday at age 95. But that was only the start.

Obama, like so many black celebrities and members of the white media, has personalized his relationship with Mandela beyond all reason: “He no longer belongs to us; he belongs to the ages,” Obama said upon learning of Mandela’s death. The President added, “We will not likely see the likes of Nelson Mandela again.”

I have no doubt about that last statement. Can you think of another terrorist bent on killing and overthrowing a government with bombs and armed insurrection who went on to be considered the greatest statesman ever? And just in case you think that Mandela was never a terrorist but a misunderstood man walking in the steps of Mahatma Gandhi, then you are at odds with Washington. He was on the terrorist list until 2008.

No doubt, South Africans were upset when Mandela tried to blow up a hospital in the early 1960s. The difference between Mandela then and Timothy McVeigh, who blew up the Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, is that McVeigh was a deadlier terrorist. Later in life, Mandela did say that he was glad he was caught and did not kill all those innocent sick people. Millions of people find it heartwarming that Mandela had a change of heart.

Check one for sainthood!

In the 1980s, when the Government of South Africa said that Mandela could walk out of jail a free man if he would simply renounce violence as a means to black majority rule, the great leader said no. Apparently, his wife Winnie Mandela was too happy necklacing her black opponents with tires filled with gasoline for her husband to make a false promise.

Check two for sainthood!

Then there is the fact that Mandela is now celebrated as the greatest human being of the modern era, perhaps any era. Larry King said on CNN that he knows of no greater person who lived in the 20th century than Mandela. Apparently, King has forgotten a lot of people.

But my favorite shout-out comes from Peter Oborne, who wrote last Friday for The Telegraph:

There are very few human beings who can be compared to Jesus Christ. Nelson Mandela is one. This is because he was a spiritual leader as much as a statesman. His colossal moral strength enabled him to embark on new and unimaginable forms of action. He could lead through the strength of example alone.

Check three for sainthood!

The Cost And Fruit Of Biblical Revival

Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury, was burned at the stake on March 21, 1556. He had espoused ideas on the authority of the Pope, the doctrine of the sacrament, and other things that were contrary to the doctrine of the established church. He faced pressures from authorities and threats to his life to recant. He did recant some of his ideas in writing, but was sentenced to death anyway. He repudiated his recantation in his last words before being tied to the stake in a street in Oxford, England. John Foxe records:

And when the wood was kindled, and the fire began to burn near him, he stretched forth into the flames his right hand, which had signed his recantation, and there held it so steadfastly, that the people might see it burned to a coal before his body was touched. In short, he was so patient and constant in the midst of these extreme tortures, that he seemed to move no more than the stake to which he was bound; his eyes were lifted up to heaven, and often he repeated the word,

This unworthy right hand!” so long as his voice would suffer him; and often used the words of the blessed martyr St. Stephen, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” till, the fury of the flames putting him to silence, he gave up the ghost.

The fire that consumed Thomas Cranmer was so hot that it scorched doors on the buildings scores of feet away from where this martyr was giving up his life for the Truth. Cranmer was one of many people who gave his life to help bring about the Protestant Reformation, a Biblical revival that still impacts the world today.

Revival requires a great cost. Revivals throughout history have resulted in the death of thousands and thousands of people. Those who have seen the Truth and commit to live by it no matter what, will most likely encounter some form of persecution. It has happened throughout history and is happening today in many nations. In America we experience minimal persecution thanks to those who established this nation upon Christian principles and ideas; but this is changing as we remove the Christian foundations.

Louis Farrakhan Organization Received $103K In Farm Subsidies!

By now Americans should be well aware of the President’s fondness for people and groups aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Indeed, Obama’s appreciation of all things Islam does not stop there. Thanks to Adam Andrzejewski‘s watch dog organization, Open the Books, we discover that Louis Farrakhan, rabid Nation of Islam leader, has a little pet project, Muhammad Farms, which received $103,529 in aid between 2008 and 2011.

Hmmm. Farm subsidies in urban Chicago. That’s novel.

To be fair, the group did receive $26,357 under the Bush administration.

Andrzejewski writes in the Muhammad Farms report:

Within the geographic borders of the City of Chicago, 930 entities received an aggregated total of $6.129 million in federal government farm subsidy payments.

Federal farm subsidy program dollars are flowing into the “urban areas”- where there are no farms. The recipients include grain traders and members of the Chicago Board of Trade, wealthy second generation inheritors, and non-profit organizations such as the Mallard Habitat Foundation and a charity of The Nation of Islam. Many entities receive the federal subsidies at their downtown loop office buildings or residential mansions.

Nearly every neighborhood in the city receives federal farm subsidy payments- including the Gold Coast, Downtown-Loop, Lincoln Park, and even the President’s neighbors in Hyde Park.

MICHELLE OBAMA: The Funeral Frowning Wench

Michelle Obama is the scowling funeral attendee and Barack, whether he laughs or cries, just can’t please the woman.

For some reason the first lady either takes memorials so seriously that she glowers continuously throughout the service, or spending that much time sitting next to Barack Obama makes her perfectly-tweezed eyebrows furrow and her forehead elevens cry out for an emergency shot of Botox.

Unlike Bill Clinton, who cries only on camera at funerals, Mrs. Obama seems unaware that being on the world stage requires some acting skill. Even if the wife of a US president is bored, annoyed, or just plain pissed off at some blonde chick yukking it up with the old man, it’s best to learn how to pretend to be happy at public events.

If you think about it, the only time Michelle Obama beams is if she’s dancing with Ellen DeGeneres, front and center at a Beyoncé concert, making menu choices for chubby Americans, or if there is food involved.

The first funeral frown that was captured for posterity was at “Godmother” of the American civil rights movement Dorothy Height’s funeral. Her husband gave that eulogy, too. In essence, the gist of what Obama had to say about Dorothy was similar to what was conveyed at the 94,000-people strong funeral memorializing Nelson Mandela.

In Washington, DC, at 98-year-old Dorothy Height’s memorial, quite unlike himself, Obama had this to say about the deceased civil rights activist: “She never cared about who got the credit. What she cared about was the cause. The cause of justice, the cause of equality, the cause of opportunity, freedom’s cause.”

A Line In The Sand Is Being Drawn Again

In March of 1836, a young man of twenty-three years of age took his sword out of its scabbard and drew a line in the sand in front of an old mission outside of San Antonio, Texas, and called on the men defending that mission who were willing to stay on the ramparts and face an opposing army more than ten times their number to signify their commitment by stepping across the line. Of course, the young man was William Barrett Travis and the old mission was the Alamo. He could not have known it then, but Travis’ line in the sand would forever become the benchmark by which all future acts of commitment would be measured. In a mystical way, but, then again, in very real way, Travis’ line in the sand is being drawn again. Oh, it may not be a line in dirt drawn by the point of a sword; it is a line in the hearts of men being drawn by the Spirit of God.

My last three columns (not including the column promoting THE FREEDOM DOCUMENTS) generated more responses than any three columns I have ever written, and I have been writing this column for some fifteen years. At first, the responses were mostly negative and often vitriolic. But this past week, responses have been over 90% positive and very enthusiastic. I am confident that the manner in which these columns have brought out intense emotion and determination on both sides is a microcosm of what is happening nationally. A line in the sand for freedom is being drawn once again.

This line in the sand for freedom is separating people in a major way. And this is not necessarily a bad thing. In the same way that God commanded Abram to separate from his home and kin, so, too, the Spirit of God is separating people many times from their friends, their neighbors, their kinfolk, and, yes, their church families. I seem to recall that during the period of the early church, the conflict of principle forever separated the apostles Paul and Silas. And during America’s War for Independence, the conflict of principle separated Benjamin Franklin and his son William--as it did tens of thousands of others.

Perhaps not since the days of Patrick Henry, Sam Adams, et al., have Americans been forced to deal--intellectually, reasonably, emotionally, volitionally, and spiritually--with the fundamental issues of liberty as we are being forced to do today. For way too long, Americans have taken freedom for granted. For way too long, our educational and religious institutions (not to mention our homes) have not taught the fundamental principles of liberty. This negligence has brought our country to the brink of oppression and despotism. And, just as was the case in Colonial America, a line in the sand for freedom is being drawn in the hearts of men.

Senior Citizens, Old Fogies, Geezers, And In Some Cases Dinosaurs

Author Unknown

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs.  Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire.  Others have been retired for some time.  We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.  We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together.  Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true.  But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age.  Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience.  We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes.  For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators.  A few even remember when cars were started with a crank.  Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many.  But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off.  We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam .  We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so.  We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield.  We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave."  We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag.  We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner,  America, and  America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing.  We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it.  It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us.  We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep.  There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress.  You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."

You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all.  You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting.  Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse.  With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.'  Now you're paying the price and complaining about it.  No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got.  We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to take back our nation.  We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2014 we're going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom.  We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.  So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."

Footnote:
This is spot on.  I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on.  I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great country.

Can you feel the ground shaking???  It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEED!!!!!

Get Off The Sinking Ship

This column dated November 21, 2013, created a firestorm of outrage and venom from hundreds of pastors and Christians. It was a rude awakening for me, for sure. I have long maintained that the vast majority of today’s pastors and church members are smugly content in abject apathy and indifference. However, after the vehement reaction to the above-mentioned column, I can now state dogmatically that the problem is actually much, much worse than I realized. Today’s churchmen are not merely content to not being involved; they are absolutely committed to not being involved. It goes much deeper than apathy; it is apostasy.

See my November 21 column here:
This Pastor Proves My Point

My email inbox and mailbox filled with vitriolic rebukes from pastors and Christians. I was called just about every dirty name in the book and relegated to the depths of the damned--and those were the mild ones. At the heart of these feelings of contempt is the rejection of Natural Law. It’s not only that today’s pastors and Christians have not been taught the Biblical principles of Natural Law and, therefore, don’t understand it; today’s churchmen have developed a willful and stubborn conviction against Natural Law.

I will even go so far as to say that the majority of our pastors and church leaders today are monarchists at heart. The lack of instruction and understanding of the Biblical principles of Natural Law have created a generation of churchmen who are more than willing to submit to the unnatural laws of tyranny and oppression. Until two weeks ago, I didn’t truly comprehend the depth of this volitional slavery.

The statements being made by today’s pastors and Christians are so nonsensical and asinine that it is extremely difficult to believe that any person, much less pastors and Christians, could even utter them. Here are just a few examples of what pastors have said:

“If federal agents or troops came to my house and put my wife on the kitchen table and raped her, Romans 13 tells me I could not interfere.”

“If government forces came to my home intent on harming my wife and children, I would not resist; I would simply tell my family to run.”

“America’s Founding Fathers were rebels against God. They had no right to fight a war for independence. Subjection to a king, even a tyrannical one, is God’s Will.”

“Anyone who resists civil government is going to hell.”

“There is no such thing as natural law, and anyone who promotes it is of the devil.”

Dear reader, trust me: the comments above are reflective of the majority of pastors and Christians I have heard from over the past couple of weeks. Truly did Jesus say, “Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?” (Luke 6:39 KJV) That is exactly what is happening in America today: the blind are leading the blind into the ditch of tyranny and oppression.

Last Sunday, I delivered a message entitled, “Biblical Evidence For Natural Law.” I invite readers to watch the archived video of that message here:

Shame Needs To Make A Come Back

Today there is a crisis in our culture, a crisis that gets little attention but deserves serious scrutiny: THE LACK OF SHAME IN AMERICA.

As Merriam-Webster puts it, shame is a “Painful emotion caused by consciousness of guilt, shortcoming, or impropriety…you know you have done something wrong and you have the ability to feel guilt, regret, or embarrassment.

How did we get here?  One answer is the character development of the baby boomers who were spared from the hardships of the Great Depression and of World War II – they were pampered and indulged more than any other generation in U.S. history.  The boomers also saw the disintegration of the family unit in the 1960s through divorce and the exodus of the modern woman from the home into the workforce.  The result was a crack in the moral foundation of America and the beginning of moral relativism in our personal and our religious values.

The lack of shame became turbo charged twenty years ago in 1993 with the inauguration of the first baby boomer as president, namely, our 42nd president: William Jefferson Clinton.

A Funny Email I Received

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the  desert. After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound  asleep.

Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, 'Kemo  Sabe, look towards sky, what you see?

'The Lone Ranger replies, 'I see millions of  stars.'

What that tell you?' asked Tonto.

The Lone Ranger  ponders for a minute then says, 'Astronomically speaking, it tells me there  are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.  Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to  be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, the  Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorological, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What's it tell you,  Tonto?'

"You dumber than a Congressman. It means someone stole the  tent."

Teacher Refuses Paper On Abortion, “You Can Do Abortion If You Write FOR It”

Abigail Cornejo is a Sophomore at Palatine High School in a small town in Illinois who merely wanted to write a paper on the controversial topic of abortion. But her English teacher had something else in mind and told Conejo she couldn’t write on the topic — and if she did, she would have to write from the pro-abortion perspective.

“My English class is doing a controversial issue research paper,” Abigail told LifeNews. “My English teacher, Mr. David Valentino originally told the class we may not do abortion, euthanasia, or legalization or marijuana. I asked why we couldn’t do infanticide, abortion and he replied with, ‘I’ve read too many papers on it. I don’t care anymore.’”

She continued: “The next day, for my controversial topic I wrote down abortion and he refused to approve my topic. I asked, ‘Why not? You don’t even have a good reason.” He replied in his I’m higher than you and you have to listen to me voice, ‘It’s an ethical debate. I don’t have to have a reason you aren’t doing abortion.’ We quickly argued about it being an ethical debate and then I told him I’m still going to do abortion and his reply was, “‘If you write a paper on abortion I will not read it and you will get an F. This is an essential writing assignment and if you get an F you will fail this class and have to retake it in the summer or next year. It’s your choice I hope you make the right decision.’”

“The ‘right decision’ is controversial,” Abigail said.

Talk About A Teachable “Barber Shop” Moment (Video)

America can learn a lot from watching this video on racism in a barber shop.

What an amazing lesson to be had here. It’s rare that the media provides this type of a glimpse into the American psyche, particularly as it pertains to race. As you watch this, I want you to ask yourself what you are being taught about racism with blacks.

I found this to be very touching and beautiful. This is not what's portrayed in the MSM.

Great Moments In Democrat Racist History-- The 1964 Vote Count

Liberals often insist that somehow, magically, between the 50s and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the racist Dems and the reforming freedom-loving Republicans “switched places” and Republicans were now the evil racists. This video addresses that goofy notion.

6-Year-Old Boy Suspended From Colorado School For Sexual Harrassment

I’ll say it again, sending your children to public schools is quickly becoming child abuse due to the complete idiocy and lack of common sense of school administrators.

A 6-year-old boy has been suspended from a Colorado school for kissing a girl on the cheek.

School officials in Canon City are accusing the boy of sexual harassment and they want it on his school record.

The boy’s mother tells KRDO-TV ( ) her son was suspended once before for kissing the girl and had disciplinary problems, but the girl did not object to being kissed.

Where do these idiots get off. I worked as a contractor at an USAF base in SE Asia several years ago. The USAF policy there was "If a male is accused of sexual harassment by a female he IS guilty. She doesn't have to prove anything". There was a female contractor in my shop that really liked to use sexually explicit language. We weren't exactly on friendly terms. I felt that I needed to walk on egg shells around her. During one of her sexually explicit tirades if I'd angered her enough she may have accused me of sexual harassment to get even. The United States Air Force would then have pronounced me guilty and demanded that I be fired. When returning to the states I could have possibly faced legal charges. Win or lose, that charge would follow me wherever I go. I stayed as far away from her as possible, especially if there were no others in the area. Needless to say, when they moved her to a different location several guys in the shop were relieved.

We seem to live in a really stupid culture these days. Children and adults can have their reputations ruined simply because some teachers, administrators or USAF brass are incapable of intelligent thought.

I'm adding a couple of YouTube links that tell of much younger children being accused for doing what kids have done throughout eternity. Just being sweet kids!!!! Much better than being little brats.

Sexual Harassment Hysteria in Lower Education, Part 2 (26.26 Min)

Total Surrender

The budget agreement announced yesterday increases spending, raises taxes, and funds Obamacare for two years. It has the support of President Obama, Harry Reid, and countless Democrats in Washington.

What is Mitch McConnell doing to stop it? Nothing. In fact, McConnell was completely silent on the deal yesterday.

Mitch McConnell may vote against the deal so he can pretend to be a conservative, but don't be fooled. He wants the deal to pass. He made it clear that he won't fight the Democrats on spending and he forced his party to surrender.

It's so disappointing because now is the perfect time for Republicans to take a stand against Obamacare. The law is very unpopular and Democrats are running for cover. In fact, Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) just started a new TV ad distancing herself from Obamacare.

Thanks to your willingness to fight this terrible law, we're winning the debate. But the law isn't going to repeal itself. That will only happen if Republicans take a principled and courageous stand to stop it.

NSA Infected 50,000 Computer Networks With Malicious Software

The American intelligence service - NSA - infected more than 50,000 computer networks worldwide with malicious software designed to steal sensitive information. Documents provided by former NSA-employee Edward Snowden and seen by this newspaper, prove this.

A management presentation dating from 2012 explains how the NSA collects information worldwide. In addition, the presentation shows that the intelligence service uses ‘Computer Network Exploitation’ (CNE) in more than 50,000 locations. CNE is the secret infiltration of computer systems achieved by installing malware, malicious software.

One example of this type of hacking was discovered in September 2013 at the Belgium telecom provider Belgacom. For a number of years the British intelligence service - GCHQ – has been installing this malicious software in the Belgacom network in order to tap their customers’ telephone and data traffic. The Belgacom network was infiltrated by GCHQ through a process of luring employees to a false Linkedin page.

Send The Bums Home, They Need To Get A Job

That was U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) speaking at the Detroit Economic Club last week about the need for congressional term limits.

We could not agree with him more.

"I've been there three years and I get beaten down every day," he said. "It's how long can you maintain your enthusiasm to try to change something."

The lack of enthusiasm to bring about real change is not only a powerful argument for term limits, it's also the central difference between establishment Republicans and conservatives.

Conservatives like Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Marco Rubio (R-FL) not only believe in our principles, they believe they can be enacted if we fight for them.

That's not the case with establishment Republicans. They publicly say they want to stop bad policies like Obamacare and tax increases, but privately they say these things aren't possible.

The Taliban: America’s Enemy

The Taliban have recently published the autumn edition of their magazine, Azan.

This is the fourth issue of the magazine and is significant in that it calls for Muslims in the West to launch attacks at home or fight in foreign battlefields, urging recruits to even leave behind their children or elderly parents http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/al-qaeda/10503925/Taliban-magazine-urges-jihad-and-profiles-the-Honda-125.html

Surely such calls to Jihad are nothing new, so why is this particular publication important?

Because it has been released just a few days after the Obama administration was quoted saying that “the Taliban are not our enemies and we don’t want to fight them.” (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/11/27/Karzai-Will-Sign-Agreement-with-U-S-Says-Obama-Administration-Claimed-Taliban-Not-Our-Enemy

Such statements about the Taliban are nothing new from the Obama administration. Vice President Joe Biden told Newsweek magazine the same thing almost exactly two years ago (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/vp-biden-says-that-the-taliban-per-se-is-not-our-enemy/

Obama Needs To Eat Mor Chikin

This morning I flew on a USAir flight out of Charlotte to Ft. Lauderdale and had the chance to speak with a gentleman who owns several Chick-fil-A franchises in the Charlotte area. He was coming to Ft. Lauderdale for a cruise.

I asked him about the impact of the current economic policies of Obamacare, the $15 minimum wage proposal, and other tax and regulatory policies. Without hesitation, he said he’ll have three options if this tsunami hits; reduce his staff (in other words, fire employees), pass the costs to consumers, or shut down franchises – none of those are what I would call good options for a small business franchisee.

I’m not sure why people don’t understand businesses are in business to provide a product or service people actually want and make a profit (and a living for their families) — and don’t exist simply to provide jobs.

The government doesn’t need to provide a service people actually want (i.e. Obamacare) because they can just force you to buy it. Chick-fil-A on the other hand needs to provide customers with a tasty, economical meal all the while competing with every other fast food restaurant.

Dedication: Arizona Salutes Her Fallen WWII Heroes

December 7th, 1941 was, as Franklin Delano Roosevelt put it, “A date which will live in infamy.” Lost at Pearl Harbor that day were over 3,400 men – 1,177 of who were on the U.S.S. Arizona, one of the many ships sunk by the Japanese.

On September 2nd, 1945, the Japanese formally surrendered on the U.S.S. Missouri. By then, about 2,000 Arizonans had died in the war.

This December 7th, 2013, the 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor , was chosen as the day to honor these men and women, along with all veterans of WWII, as Arizona dedicated its new World War II memorial at the Wesley Bolin Plaza in Downtown Phoenix.

Town Of Campbell WI Police Write Citations For Displaying US Flag

Every troop takes an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution with a US Flag present.

Every civil servant/officer takes an oath of office and swears to uphold the US Constitution and the state constitution, again with a US Flag present.

Watch the confrontation between these Campbell, Wisconsin, policemen and some citizens peacefully holding signs and US Flags.

Why didn’t the policemen at the scene explain the ordinance the sign and flag holders were violating?

This is rather disturbing, especially given the trend under Obama to infringe more and more of our constitutionally guaranteed rights.

Liberty University’s Obamacare Loss Bad Omen For Hobby Lobby

DeVine Law warned conservatives, after Chief Justice John Roberts turned the unconstitutional individual mandate “fine” into a constitutional “tax”, in order to avoid ruling Obamacare an invalid regulation of interstate commerce, that the only realistic hope for repeal lied in the political and not the legal arena.

On Monday, Roberts’ Supreme Court reduced those already minuscule hopes that First Amendment objections to the employer mandate would fare any better, when it upheld a July decision of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals declaring the mandate to choose insurance coverage covering abortions only in instances of rape, incest or to protect the mother’s life did not violate the free exercise of religion:

The court dismissed a suit challenging central provisions of the law including the requirement that individuals obtain health insurance, according to Reuters. The petition was brought by Virginia’s Liberty University, the Christian college founded by evangelist Jerry Falwell, and two other individuals.

The Supreme Court announced Tuesday that it would hear two cases challenging the health care law’s birth control mandate on religious grounds, Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. v. Sebelius andConestoga Wood Specialties Corp. v. Sebelius. Those cases are slated to be heard next spring.

Urgent: Common Core Must Die Now (great explanatory videos)

Remember the “Stimulus Package”? It was the beginning of the Progressives/Communists’ plan to end the capitalist system and take over the school system. Money in the “Stimulus Package” was used to bribe states into accepting Common Core, years before they had even seen what it was.

Bill Gates and GE Corp. (in bed with the government) contributed millions to Common Core. David Coleman, president of the College Board, is the architect of Common Core. He makes almost a million a year, and is “in bed with” William Ayres, Obama, and Soros.

Progressive (Communist) Republicans like Chris Christie, Jeb Bush are supporting Common Core.

Middle School Says Bible Verse Is More Offensive Than Lil’ Wayne Lyrics

This week, a middle school in Kansas is in the news for preventing a student from organizing a “See You at the Pole” prayer time. Fliers she posted in the school contained “illegal” Bible verses. An attorney filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of this girl who was penalized for posting John 3:16 and Romans 5:8.
Objectively, which of the following quotes is most offensive:

- “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. “- John 3:16

or

The Lyrics to Lil’ Wayne’s “Good Kush & Alcohol” – I actually can’t post the lyrics here because they are so sexually explicit, every line would pretty much be all astericks *********.

This middle school actually allowed the Lil’ Wayne lyrics to be posted, but not the Bible verses.
The first amendment protects free speech for all American citizens, students included. Now, I can understand a school punishing a kid and taking down a poster with sexually explicit lyrics, but a Bible verse about God’s love? Really?

Tell Congress: No More Air Taxes For Travelers!

Did you know on an average $300 roundtrip ticket, 20% of the total cost goes to Washington D.C.? Yup commercial air travel is in the same federal tax bracket as “sin goods” like tobacco or alcohol. In total, the aviation industry and its customers are subject to 17 separate taxes and fees, equating to $19 billion in costs in 2012 alone; all this being done to an industry that has lost nearly $50 billion and a third of its workforce since 2001. Now it looks like Washington is looking to increase fees once again, and we think that’s an unfair burden being placed on the traveling public.

As part of a potential budget deal, Congress is seeking to double the current Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Passenger Security Tax from $2.50 to $5, and the White House proposes tripling the tax. Our trade organization, Airlines for America (A4A), and other industry partners have joined together to oppose yet another tax grab placed squarely on your back. What is even worse is that this plan will not improve airport security – it simply hikes TSA passenger taxes to reduce the budget deficit.  But it will definitely drive up the cost of your air travel.  Let’s be honest, every dollar counts, and every dollar added to the cost of a ticket, makes it a little harder to travel.
